a letter to myself:

Dear Young Mother,

I know that you are going through a particularly difficult time in your life right now.

You feel like your life is a shattered mess because you can't plan out your day.. you can't even count on your plan for the next five minutes.

It's hard because you can't control the simple things like you used to-
like when to shower, the cleanliness of your house, or even when you can poop.

I know that you feel alone- because no matter how many times you explain it, nobody seems to fully understand.

I know that you feel like a complete failure because it seems like you have lost control over every aspect of your life.

But that, young mom, is where you are wrong.

You have control over one. thing.

YOU.

You have control over your reactions, your emotions, and your thoughts.
It's flipping hard to exercise control over these things- but you and ONLY YOU have control over them.

Don't let life control you.

CONTROL. YOUR. LIFE. and start with your thoughts.

Here, let me help you...

Contrary to what you tell yourself a thousand times a day, you are a good mom.
You need to stop demanding perfection of yourself because you are trying as hard as you can and that is MORE than good enough.
Stop beating yourself up for not waking up at 6am to work out and get breakfast started before everyone wakes up. You stay up late taking care of everyone and everything that you didn't have time to get to during the day.

You are so patient and kind with every one... even when they don't deserve it.
Please show yourself that same kindness.

You are doing such a good job. You are doing much better than you think you are. Give yourself credit where credit is due.

You were given this job as a mother because God knew you could not only handle it, but that you would do a really, REALLY good job.

Keep your chin up.

Be nice to yourself, because it's hard to be happy when someone is mean to you all the time.

With Love,
You
